Assignment #3- Poetry Essay- Due August 2nd
Respond to the following questions in a short essay format when you have completed the collection of poetry. Your essay shoud be 2-3 pages. You must make use text evidence from poems in your collection. This assignment is due by Friday, August 3rd.
When a poet compiles a collection of poetry there are most often significant themes that emerge throughout the book. What theme or themes do you see in the collection of poetry that you read? Give evidence from the poems. Does the poetry deal with themes related to love, death, war, or peace? What other themes show up in the poems? Are there particular historical events that are mentioned in the poems? What are the most important concepts that are addressed in the poems?

Write a detailed summary of the poems/play/story in the first half of your book. Then explain what you think the author’s purpose was in writing his/her book, and what your reaction is to that purpose.
